Every now and then we get emails from our loyal customers about our upgrade policy and upgrade procedure. So I decided to write a post that explains pretty much all the aspects of the upgrade procedure.
Our licensing policy
In a nutshell it’s
Minor upgrades are free, major upgrades are not free.
Minor upgrade is an upgrade from, say, version 4.1.4 to 4.3.1 or to 4.9, within the same major version 4.
Major upgrade is an upgrade from, say, 4.3.1 to 5.0 or 6.1. Major upgrades are not free, however, you don’t have to pay the full price ever. We offer an upgrade price, which is $19.95 at the moment.
Keeping your valuable data during upgrades
When Quick To-Do Pro tries to open data created with an old version of the program, it will make a backup copy of the data and automatically upgrade the data to the latest format. So the upgrade process is really simple – you just install your new version over the old one and voila!
However, if you need that extra level of protection, always use menu File >> Backup data prior to the upgrade.
Moving data between computers
First of all, backup your data on your old computer by using menu File >> Backup data. I’d suggest to copy the backup to a flash drive, a network drive or burn it on a CD.
Then install Quick To-Do Pro on your new computer and restore previously backed up data using menu File >> Restore data.
